Kari Swanson
DVM, MS, DACVS-SA

Dr. Kari Swanson received her DVM from the University of Illinois in 2013, then went on to complete her rotating internship at the University of Missouri in 2014, before completing her surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in 2015. She then returned to the University of Illinois to complete her surgical residency in 2018 before obtaining board certification through American College of Veterinary Surgeons. From a young age, Dr. Swanson always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian with an interest in specializing in surgery. Dr. Swanson enjoys surgery because she gets joy out of being able to make an immediate difference in animals’ lives and further cultivate the human-animal bond by increasing a pet’s quality of life through surgery. Within this specialty, Dr. Swanson particularly enjoys orthopedics, neurosurgery, and physical rehabilitation. In her spare time, Dr. Swanson enjoys cooking, baking, crocheting, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her family, as well as her dog Bella, cat Mr. Meowington, and chinchilla Tucker.
