Dr. Carey received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University, then practiced small animal and exotic medicine in the Washington, D.C. area before entering emergency practice. He has focused on emergency medicine ever since, culminating in the establishment of Care Center with his partners. Dr. Carey’s special interests lie in trauma care and exotic animal medicine. He also serves on the Board of the Ohio Environmental Council, an environmental organization dedicated to preserving Ohio’s natural resources (theoec.org), as well as serving on the board of SAFER (Sub Antarctic Foundation for Ecosystems Research), researching climate change by investigating one of the world’s most affected areas—the South Atlantic (subantarctic.com). A Cincinnati native, Dr. Carey is also an alumnus of Walnut Hills High School and Miami University. In January of 2023, Dr. Carey made the decision to retire from veterinary medicine to spend time with his family and friends.
