Growing up in Southern Virginia on a small farm sparked Dr. Brian Martin’s interest in veterinary medicine. Dr. Martin obtained his DVM and Master’s degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 where he met his wife, who is also a veterinarian. He then when on to complete his Small Animal Rotating Internship at VCA Veterinary Care Referral Center in 2007, before completing his Small Animal Surgery Residency at University of Minnesota in 2010. This experience in Minnesota is what grew his appreciation for the Midwest, ultimately moving to the area to continue his veterinary career! Dr. Martin’s favorite surgeries to perform are those that allow a pet to walk out of the hospital and back to an improved quality of life. He is most interested in those elective orthopedic cases, such as Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). In his free time, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters, and their Dachshund Taggie McClaggin, traveling, and spending time outside and on rivers.
