Dr. Ryan Butler is from a rural Mississippi. His passion for veterinary medicine sparked as a child, working with cows and horses on his family’s farm. Although he originally wanted to become an equine surgeon, he developed a love for small animal surgery during veterinary school. Dr. Butler received his DVM from Mississippi State in 2007. He then completed a rotating internship at Texas A&M in 2008, before completing his Small Animal Surgical Residency and Master of Science at Mississippi State in 2011. Dr. Butler became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2012. Dr. Butler is experienced in variety of orthopedic procedures, arthroscopy, minimally invasive fracture repair, as well as a wide range of soft tissue and neurosurgery procedures. He has authored or co-authored over 40 journal articles and book chapters on various topics including cranial cruciate surgery, fracture repair, regenerative medicine, and canine hip dysplasia. In his spare time, Dr. Butler enjoys traveling, exercising, outdoor activities, and attending sporting events.
