Michael Kraun, DVM, DACVS-SA

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr.Kraun is a native of metro Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Kraun received both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from the University of Georgia, graduating at the top of his class both times, and is a very proud Bulldog. He completed a rotating internship at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and a residency in small animal surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Kraun’s clinical interests include general soft tissue and reconstructive surgery, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament disease, spinal decompressive surgery, and procedural innovation/modification. He is also passionate about teaching, pain management, and issues pertaining to patient safety. Outside the hospital, Dr. Kraun enjoys playing sports, especially hockey and is an avid college football fan. He is happiest outdoors, especially on the water, and prefers to incorporate music into life whenever possible. Prior to beginning his veterinary training, Dr. Kraun lived in Cincinnati for a time and worked as an intern at the Cincinnati Zoo.
